Yagööt Announces Flavor Contest

Yagööt, the beloved tingly tart yogurt, loves its fans, and wants to hear from them about what flavors will appear in stores and on spoons by announcing NeuGööt ‘What’s Your Flavor?’ Contest. Yagööt is inviting its fans – lovingly deemed Yagrööpies – to help create a tingly tart frozen yogurt flavor that will debut this fall.

Three of the most desirable flavors will be chosen from the entries collected from all five Yagööt locations. The three flavor finalists from the Columbus and Cincinnati area will be held to the ultimate test, being judged by food critics and ruthless food bloggers on Wednesday August 31, 2011. The winner will witness their creation crafted for spoons across Ohio, to be served at all Yagööt locations, beginning October 5, 2011.

Interested Yagrööpies – and aspiring ones, too – can enter their designer flavor by dropping off the entry form at any of Yagööt’s five locations. Forms are available on the Yagööt Facebook page, website and in stores. Entries can only be submitted at a Yagööt location. Fill out the entry form completely (entries missing information will not be considered) and drop off at a Yagööt Frozen Yogurt store by close of business on Sunday July 31, 2011.

ABOUT YAGOOT

Tart yogurt isn't exactly a new idea in Cincinnati. Busken Bakery, the creators of Yagööt, were whirling up their first serving of frozen yogurt in — believe it or not — 1977. Soon Busken Yogurt Salads quickly became their most popular lunchtime item. Even then, people working downtown went a little gaga for this cool, healthy, live-active-culture treat.

So what happened? As fate would have it, the dairy that was making the yogurt went out of business. And the Busken Yogurt Salad sensation of the 70s and 80s lived only in the memories of wistful Cincinnatians pining for the vibrant goodness of days gone by.

Well, that is until 2008 when the Buskens redoubled their efforts to rewrite history. They found the old formula, worked with a new dairy to tweak out the perfect balance of rich yogurt tart to smiling sweet — in a frozen concoction that's as refreshing and healthy as it was 30 some years ago. The original tingly-tart flavor was reborn. Only this time, accompanied by a scintillating suite of specially selected toppings. And, of course, a slightly new attitude.
