Randy and Lisa Lynch, owners of Bennett Lane Winery in Calistoga, are thrilled to introduce the inaugural release of Timeless ($28), the vintners’ latest blend from the Napa Valley. Known for thinking outside of the box with their non-traditional Bordeaux meets Rhone in the Napa Valley blend called Maximus, this new creation is all about finding the best that not only each vineyard lot has to offer, but also each vintage.
Timeless is a non-vintage Napa Valley blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. By using wine from multiple vintages, Winemaker Grant Hermann is able to find the perfect balance between the elegant tannins from one vintage and bright acidity and bold fruit from the next and in turn creates a wine that is approachable and ready to drink.
“We wanted to take our blending to the next level” owner Randy Lynch notes, “and with Timeless we can do just that – taking wines from different points in time and leaving behind tradition to make a truly approachable and enjoyable wine.”
All Timeless fruit is sustainably farmed, blending fruit from vineyard sources from each of Napa Valley’s viticultural areas, including Bennett Lane’s own estate Calistoga vineyards, which are en route to receiving Napa Green certification. Napa Green vineyard and land certification is a voluntary program for Napa Valley vintners and grape growers that enhances the watershed and restores habitat with sustainable agriculture practices. In keeping with the concern for sustainability, Timeless wine bottles are made from 50% post-consumer recycled glass and 25% post consumer cardboard.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes
This Napa Valley Cabernet and Merlot blend opens with aromas of bright cherry and raspberry and subtle notes of caramel and rose petals. On the palate the wine has an incredible fruit driven profile, with chocolate, dark cherry and plum preserves. The rich fruit on the palate lingers with a long elegant finish.
